BRITISH TREKKER AMONG FATALITIES IN NEPAL MOUNTAIN ROAD ACCIDENT

by James Smith

A British trekker has been identified among those killed in a devastating bus accident in Nepal. The vehicle, carrying dozens of passengers, left the road and fell down a steep mountainside earlier this week.

The crash occurred in the Dhading district, on a winding mountain route known for its hazardous conditions. Authorities report the bus was traveling overnight when it veered off the road, plummeting approximately 200 meters before coming to rest near a river. The impact left the vehicle severely damaged.

Emergency responders faced significant challenges due to the remote location and difficult terrain, complicating rescue efforts throughout the night. The accident resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries.

The British national who died has been described by his family as a passionate and kind-hearted young man who loved the mountains. He had recently completed a major trekking route in the region.

Other foreign nationals, including citizens of China, India, and New Zealand, were also among the casualties. Local authorities have announced an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Such accidents are not uncommon on Nepal’s mountainous road network, where factors like difficult geography, vehicle conditions, and road maintenance often contribute to the risks. This incident follows other serious transport tragedies in the area in recent years.
